Kanopy (Dickinson Memorial Library)
Over 30,000 award-winning documentaries, rare and hard-to-find titles, film festival favorites, indie and classic films, and world cinema. Dickinson Memorial Library cardholders may borrow 5 a month.

 


Craftsy

Craftsy is an online resource for all creative makers from basic instruction to advanced techniques for fabric and yarn crafts, baking, drawing, and much more. The Internet Archive

The Internet Archive hosts Dickinson Memorial Library’s online collection of local history materials. There is no need to sign in and you do not need a library card. Just click here: https://archive.org/details/northfieldpubliclibrary for our collection or here: https://archive.org/details/fav-northfield_public_library for a collection of additional Northfield resources from other collections.

 


With a Boston Public Library e-card residents have access to a broad selections on online resources.

Use your e-card to login into BPL’s e-collections as well as BPL’s skill building and workplace development resources.  Resources available to e-card holders include Lynda.com, test prep with Learning Express Library, learning  new languages with Mango and creating resumes with Career Transitions.  Check out these and more online resources.

 


Ancestry Library Edition

Access billions of names in thousands of genealogical databases including Census and Vital Records, birth, marriage and death notices, the Social Security Death Index, Passenger lists and naturalizations, Military and Holocaust Records, City Directories, New York Emigrant Savings Bank records, and African American and Native American Records.

Bring your own laptop or use one of ours to access Ancestry Library Edition at Dickinson Memorial Library. We have a guide to getting started at the circulation desk. *This resource is only available at the library*


CW MARS library cardholders can now borrow eBooks and digital audiobooks from several library systems* across Massachusetts! 

In the Libby app (see above), you can add another library system (such as the Boston Public Library) using “Add a Library” under the Libby menu in the top right corner. You can then search for, borrow, and place holds on that library’s digital items. Though you have to add and search each library system separately, all your holds and borrowed items will show up together in your digital catalog account.  From the Digital Catalog website, follow the link to “Partner libraries” at the top to visit these collections and borrow or place holds on items.

Internet Archives – Audio Archives:   This library contains over two hundred thousand free digital recordings ranging from alternative news programming, to Grateful Dead concerts, to Old Time Radio shows, to book and poetry readings, to original music uploaded by our users. Many of these audios and MP3s are available for free download.

Smithsonian Folkways Recordings  Every two weeks a free music download from the popular online collection Smithsonian Global Sound for Libraries.
